Served as lead architect for Next Generation Desktop (NGD) offering and Federated End User Computing technical contributor. Developed written proposals, project sizing, and resources. Customer delivery included thin clients, VDI, Windows 7, Office and Office 365 deployments. Office 2010 migration technical delivery lead who managed the customer relationship and 4 engineers. Office 365 migration and delivery architect for 5K seat client.
Developed sales and technical materials for NGD resulting in over $6M billable work by creating a standard repeatable consulting product.
Developed standard offering based on definitive software library for multiple platforms (desktop, virtual desktop, terminal services, mobile devices.
Presented NGD deck to upper management and sales groups.
Created optimized virtual machines (VM) using parent VMs and linked clones.
Separated user persona and data from VM easing customer moves from physical to virtual desktops with no impact on the end user experience. Stakeholders maintain tight control over Windows environment with the benefit of easy upgrade paths that are not dependent hardware refresh cycle.
Reduced VM delivery time from 65 seconds to 18 seconds. This was accomplished by optimizing both the VM and the infrastructure.
Proposed and closed 3 multi-million-dollar desktop deals and 2 large Office migration deals.
Architected and delivered Wyse thin client-based Windows 7 to rental equipment client.
Challenges solved included managing over 200 domestic retail locations with poor WAN connectivity by using a combination of USB keys, regional hubs and rotating thin clients. Once the new image was deployed, only the image changes were sent over the WAN
Solved technical, business and legal issues for a global insurance company by upgrading and deploying from Lotus Notes client to Microsoft Outlook client as part of a Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange cloud migration.
2007 – 2011 (4 years)
Coordinated and lead sales of over $2M in IT business annually in response to customer Request for Proposals. Determined staffing and resource requirements including financials and project margins. Authored sales proposals and presentations. Wrote technical project plans with Microsoft Project; includes hardware and software integration, system analysis, IT needs assessment, system upgrades, desktop deployment, directory migration, server deployment, and consolidation.
Developed new revenue stream grossing $60M in 1st year sales, based on request by senior management to creation of desktop deployment line of business.
Established strategic advantage for Avanade in physical and virtual desktop deployment arena, identifying and guiding creation of missing tools to deliver faster and more efficient deployments at 30 – 50% lower cost.
Created streamlined set of reusable intellectual property and procedures for deploying Windows servers and client operating systems as above mentioned new product offering.
Led team of 10 engineers that completed discovery, analysis and recommendation for 80,000 users at large insurance firm, upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows XP.
Collaborated with vendors on this project, and overcoming project inertia from customer’s internal IT staff.

Championed global Windows 2000 Professional deployment at a major pharmaceutical company to 120K users supporting 27 different hardware models in 14 languages; dramatically reduced total cost of ownership (TCO), leading to invitation back to deploy Microsoft Windows XP in 2005.
Architected, engineered, and deployed Microsoft Windows Active Directory infrastructure for a multinational cosmetics firm.
Collapsed 35 Windows NT, 4 domains, and 3 Novell directories into single Active Directory forest.
Consolidated of 300 UNIX DNS namespaces into 7 Windows DNS namespaces while adhering to all customer security and corporate requirements.
